The Tyker (7-8) program is intended to create a fun, learning environment to develop basic skills and an enjoyment of the game of lacrosse. The focus of the program is basic stick skill instruction and fun. The girls are divided randomly into two teams (based on projected registration) and play controlled games that are 8 vs. 8 on a small field with regulation goals. There are 7 field players and 1 goalie. The coaches are on the field with the girls providing instruction and teaching points. A regulation ball is used at all times. Girls likely will be asked to play goalie at least once during the season if there is no designated goalie on the team. Equipment needed includes protective eyewear, a mouth guard, and proper footwear (cleats) for a grass field.
There will be two weekday practices and one weekend game.
